Hi willie25, how are you? you might have got minor injury or kind of back strain while lifting or using stairs or while bending etc which might have probably caused the back ache. Associated neural/vascular impingement can cause the numbness and shooting radiating pain. Do not strain further by lifting heavy weight, using stairs. Heat can be applied. It is better to use hard bed and get examined by a orthopedic surgeon and get a MRI and X- ray low back. Take care and keep updating.
