Pain in armpit

by debz12, May 24, 2008 05:43AM
When the pain in my right armpit flares up i get very lethargic and generally feel unwell.  worst of all is the pain from the armpit right around the back of the shoulder, to the front, above the breast where there is hard swelling at the end of the collar bone to the top of my right breast.  The pain lasts for ages.  This has happened once before but the doctors found nothing on ultra sound.  Now the left side is starting to play up.  Have had antibiotics this has helped with the lethargy feelings but not lessened the swelling under armpit or above right breast. the muscle in my right arm when in lots of pain feels like a turnique is being tightened.  would much like your advice as i am taking herbal medicine and changing diet which is helping but short term.

Hi,
It could be a lipoma.A lipoma is a growth of fat cells in a thin, fibrous capsule usually found just below the skin.Or it could just be a pocket of fat cells.
Lipomas are found most often on the torso, neck, upper thighs, upper arms, and armpits.Lipomas are the most common noncancerous soft tissue growth.
Lipomas do not generally require treatment. Because lipomas are not cancerous growths and cannot become cancerous, they do not need to be removed. There is no known treatment to prevent lipomas or affect their growth.
It may cause pain due to inflammation or it could be a muscular pain. You could take NSAIDs for the pain.
