I think Ava may be getting a sore throat. =(

by BabyHardiman, May 27, 2008 09:03AM
Ava had a little trouble crying late last nigt, and a little this morning.  She seems to be doing better now, since her feeding earlier.  Her Daddy has had a bad sore throat for about a week now, and he also has PINK EYE, if you can believe that!!  We have been careful not to put her too close to his face, and he ahs been good about washing and sterilizing his hands.  So far so clear on the pink eye.

Is there anything I can give her for a sore throat?  I am going to call her pedi this morning to see if I can't get an appointment.

Also, has anyone had a baby that has gotten pink eye before?  Her Daddy picked if up from her 7 year old sister, who of course picked it up from a little boy at school.  =(  I have never seen a case so bad before.  He has it in BOTH eyes, and his eyes are bloody looking under his eyelids.  His eyes are clearing up now, but still really red under his lids.  I feel so bad for him.  I made him a big pot of chicken soup last night.  Only problem we are having now, is that his daughters mother is convinced that her daughter has allergies instead of pink eye because that is what her pedi told her.  He prescribed oral antibiotics, hopefully it will cure it.  We went to the doctor and she prescribed eye drops with antibiotics for my DF.

It seems like EVERYONE is sick around here.  There is no way to shelter our babies from it I guess.  It's so nerve racking!!

Oh no! Pink eye and colds are no fun at all! My hubby just got over a really bad cold and sore throat....Jeremiah seems just fine, thankfully. This morning he did wake up with his right eye a little puffy looking. (not sure if it's allergies or what) I have had allergies lately. My eyes will itch and water out of nowhere, then I will be fine.
I hope little Ava is okay and that she is not sick. That would just be awful!!
The other day went to a lake to do some fishing and we brought Jeremiah along. To get to certain spots we had to walk through this trail and there was tons of poision ivy! So far I have nothing, but I noticed on Jeremiah's arm today some sort of rash and it looks like poision ivy. I called the doc and he told me that it's very unlikely that a 6 week old can even get poision ivy...I was suprised. But he told me that if anything gets worse to call back. It looks like it's getting better, whatever it is. Maybe it was just a rash. Who knows.
Let me know how little Ava is doing. Poor baby. =(
Keep on breastfeeding...that will cure whatever is going on with her. My mom use to sqiurt some of her milk in my lil bro and sis's nose whenever they would get a little cold and then they would be just fine a day or two later. Our milk is amazing stuff! =)
