Painful periods after total colectomy

Hi I had a total colectomy 9 years ago with a reversal that unfortunately did not work. I have a permanent ileostomy since 2001 but for the last year have suffered extremely painful periods with heavy bleeding and a feeling of pressure in the area where the rectum was removed. I am terrified to go to my GP in case I need a hysterectomy as I had open wounds for four years after my last surgery and I contracted MRSA in hospital. Has anybody out there had the same experiences as me? Could really use some advice.

i dont have the same experience as you but my boyfriend has a total colectomy and will be getting a reversal in a years time. im worried because he mentioned once during an arguement he might die after it but when i asked him a few eeks later he just said he would survive just that there will be side affects. im not sure whether hes trying to protect my feelings but does anyone know about a total colectomy reversal being fatal?
