Some Lab results.. HELP!

by Sarah71, May 28, 2008 03:31PM
Got 2 more of the requested blood test results back yesterday, I don't understand these, but I haven't seen the doc yet.  ANA-Speckled is positive, ANA-S titre is 80 with a note that Cystoplasmic antibody is noted, still waiting for 5 more results, the other one says HOMOCYS is 17H (High) norma interval is 5-15.  Anyone know what it means?.. Please? ;)

Your ANA titer is relatively low. "Homocys" probably stands for "homocysteine" level. It is ordered sometimes to determine if a patient has a B12 or folate deficiency and / or to assess a patient's cardiac risk.

You're welcome.... although I can't comment on the "cystoplasmic antibody" --- I'm not sure what that is.

Best,

I'm not sure what it is either. I googled it and it seems to come down to vasculitis of some sort or Wegener's granulomatosis (I have no idea what this is either) Maybe when more results come back I'll get a better idea! :)

Thanks again for your input!

There was a MedHelp member who was recently diagnosed with Wegener's. All I know is that before he had a diagnosis, he had complained about "severe allergies", muscle aches and infections (sinus & URI's).

Good luck with getting a diagnosis !

TGIF =)

Thanks for that insight, funny you mention the allergies, I get what I think is hayfever practically on a daily basis (runny nose for hours) and an MRI I had done showed a 1.2 cm mucous polyp in the left sinus cavity (high up). When you say URI's is that like a urinary tract infection? because I've had an increase of those too. No muscle aches tho'.  Guess I'll just have to sit on the 'waiting' bench to find out! ;)

Cheers

Sarah
