son of 3 wont poo on toilet

i have a 3 yr old son who refuses to poo on the toilet. he has been toilet trained for over approx 9 mths now and is fine when he needs a wee, but when it comes to pooing he waits until he has a nappy on at bedtime, as he isnt dry at nite yet. i am worried as i think he may be holding it in during the day until he has a nappy on. we have tried allsorts to encourage him...naming the poo 'come on mr poo go plop!!!!', to buying him toys n saying he can open them when hes pooed on the potty or toilet, we've even emptied his nappy into the toilet so he knws that poo goes down it n where it goes!!! he understands that everyone poos, yet he's adamant that he cant poo on toilet. i am also worried because he is at nursery now and i dont want this to impact him or the magical time that being 3 is. i feel that maybe myself and my partner may cause him stress by asking him all the time but its hard not too!!! how can i get him out of nappies and pooing on the toilet?????? laxatives????? more time? if so how much?????

i 4got to mention that he has only had an accident in his pants once! he was very distraught when it happened. we were calm.

my son dose the same thing and screames i am goning to puke i started putting a babywhipe undre his chin and hold it out and it works lick a charm ever time for us
