Chemo

Is chemo a good choice for grade 3, 1.5 cm tumor, after a mastectomy with no lymph node involvemnet.  I was hoping to fore-go it if possible.  Will it increase survial rate?

This discussion is related to Stage 1, Grade 3 breast cancer.

I agree with nancy. I am taking chemo now and i can't work because it makes me very tried everyone is different it possible that you could work but be very careful of people with colds or flu. I am taking T/C 4 rounds on my 2 dose on Oct. 15.I heard a lot of bad things about chemo but it has not been that bad. Hope this is helpful

Thankyou for your comment. Was the chemo hard on you?  Did they put a port it. Were you still able to work while in treatment?  How are you feeling today?

Your age and menopausal status as well as your ER, PR and Her2 status will help in the decision for chemo.  I was 39 when diagnoised last year with a 1.9cm tumour, Grade 3 ER and PR positive and Her2 Negative.  I was also pre menopausal and had a lumpectomy. All my nodes were clear.

I was given 4 cycles of AC chemo for the following reasons:
- my age
- grade 3 cancer
- pre menopausal.

Hope this helps.
