slight deviated septum/noses

by lynettemareska, May 29, 2008 05:57PM
I have chronic sinititus, had a cat scan done on sinus's, saw a ear nose and throat doc.
I also have a slight deviated septum to the right.  I was hoping he would say that he can
fix the septum/and I can get a nose job at the same time but instead he said he doesn't
think fixing my septum would help and i think he doesn't do that surgery anyway...I have
HMO and think maybe he just said that because he doesn't perform surgeries.  He put me
on amoxicillin and I have to go back and then he probably will clean out my sinus like
a rotortillter or something!!!
Would fixing a deviated septum help my sinus issues?  Can it hurt it?  When I asked him
about this he said that getting a nose job may hurt the sinus issues more, because
cosm. doc. are more worried about the appearance of the nose on the outside, not what
is happening on the inside.
What type of doctor can do both?

Both plastic surgeons and otolaryngologists can advise you about the need for a septoplasty with a cosmetic rhinoplasty.  It is not a certainty that straightening your septum will eliminate your chronic sinusitis.
