Ankle pain Confused!!!!

1) I have an mri that states I have a loculated collection of fluid measuring approx: 1.3 x 2.0 cm immediately superior and to the lateral aspect of the calcaneus. This is more prominent than commonly seen in this region and would be suspicious for a gangolin in the posterolateral aspect of the ankle.

2) Tiny amount of excess joint fluid..

3) The peroneal tendons also appear grossly intact with minnimal increased signal in the brevis of the ankle.


This is what my MRI states and I would like you to explain it to me a little more if possible. I am also having pain in the ankle a constant dull ache and i can't sit with my ankle up on my other leg it goes numb and tingles. It does this quiet often. I still have sweeling some days are more than others. It is very tight in the mornings. This injury occured on Mar 24,2008. I have been told by my dr. that nothing is wrong with my ankle. But I know somethen is not right.

4) Is THIS normal???
5) What do you think is important in this situation??
6) Is the cyst some thing I should be concerned about?
7) When and why do cysts appear?

Hi ksgirl22, how are you doing? How is your foot pain? Is it a doctor who had asked you to get MRI foot and have you been followed up? "A ganglion is a swelling that is filled with thick jelly like material. They usually occur on the back of the wrist but they do occur near other joints or near tendons (like in your case where it is in your foot). They usually occur in young adults. Depending on the discomfort, pain and any limitation of foot movement you can discuss the excision option with your attending surgeon or consult an orthopedician. Take care and update on progress.

Im doin ok. My foot pain comes and goes. Sometimes it throbs others just a dull ache.It was a orthapedic dr that sent me to get the mri and that i hav been following up with. i have to go to therapy 3 times a week. and im taken naproxin.  

I have been tol that the cyst is not what is causing me pain?????/
How true wld u find that??????
