Connection between Malnutrition and nails!?

by ScaredGirl1234, May 30, 2008 09:51AM
Can malnutrition, caused by anxiety/stress/depression, cause changes in nails?

My finger nails look as if the very thin "enamel" of the nail has been removed in some areas.  In a random pattern, like a global map.

Yes absolutely. Your nails are a very good indicator of your vitamin intake and stress level. Make sure you're getting enough leafy green vegetables and enough vitamin e. Obviously, keeping stress down for every aspect of life is preferrable. If you're trying to get them to grow, I strongly suggest LCD nail polish sold at Sally Beauty Supply. Only $7 a bottle (can be used as clear base or top coat) It's AMAZING if you apply it regularly, and when there's enough nail to do it, under your nails as well. Good Luck!
