I Blew Up In A Van, Now I Scare Kids...

by kiasophia, May 31, 2008 02:10PM
Greetings,
Thirteen years ago, I blew up in my van and I was unconscious. I have no idea how it happened, but I lost large chunks of skin along my lower left jaw line running up to the corner of my mouth. As the years go by, it is pulling my mouth corners down and I look like I have a nasty sneer on my face. Children, being innocent and inquisitive come right out and ask, "What’s wrong with your face"? It is horribly embarrassing for the parents, and while I laugh it off, I am usually crying by the time I reach my car. I have other scars also that are not so bad, one that really bugged me I was told by a P.S that it could be filled with restileen. I spent $500 of my $625 savings, and it filled only half way. She said I need another syringe to finish it, but I can see a definite improvement. Now, I'm sadder than ever. I know science has caught up to offer me solutions, but I am on disability and cannot afford another. She said to have my whole face fixed using Restileen, lipo-disolve and surgical release of the attached scars will cost me about $5000. My insurance will no way pay for anything. I guess they are a little bent about the new shoulder and hip replacements I had to get. Has anybody heard of any University's or training schools or pro-bono Doctors in the Orange County CA. area? Or, I can pay about $30 a month if I babysit my neighbors 'monster child on Friday nights for 2 hours. I love kids, but honestly, I keep waiting for his head to start spinning around and pea soup to spew from his mouth. (Whew, I just dated myself. The answer is, 'The Exorcist' Alex, for $200). I am hoping  SOMEBODY PLEASE can point me in the right direction. I have gotten a lot of advise to go here, go there, they 'MAY' help, but the problem is, GAS is taking the food right out of my mouth, so please, I need some firm advise. Blessings to all... Kiasophia
