Early treatment for recurrence

by Jolene1, Jun 02, 2008 12:54PM
My CA125 has doubled. It is still within normal (15), but my first recurrence it doubled (also to 15), CT showed nothing definitive and I then had PET/CT which lit up and treatment began.  Rather than fight with the insurance about the PET scan, I am considering continuing the "watch & wait", but am wondering if it is crucial to begin treatment as soon as recurrence is confirmed or wait for symptoms.

Dear Jolene,
it is reasonable to watch and wait. There is no data to suggest that starting treatment again before it is possible to see a recurrence improves survival
please let us know how things go
