twins have to be on the mothers side to run in the family....that's what my ob said

Brown eyed gurl is correct.... it is all about the ladies eggs and how many she releases or if they split (identical twins).....

however the man's history will come into effect for his children.

You posted a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to respond. My husband has identical twin sisters and his father is an identical twin. Identical is all on his side, my side has fraternal. I just recently gave birth to identical twin boys. From what I have learned from perinatlogists I have seen over the last year is that fraternal twin are from the woman's side only, due to you releasing two eggs. But they aren't positive to this day why that one egg splits and forms identical twins. They are getting closer to figuring it out, but it may have something to do with the mans sperm, that causes the egg to split.

i was told it skips a generation. i was a twin. i didnt have twins. it all depends. i was told by my doctor is skips as well as with the more pregnancys you have the higher chance of having twins becomes

the multiple gene runs on the mothers side. since it's pretty much us who either produces more then one egg at a time or our bodies that cause the one egg to split....the father has nothing to do with it (despite what they may think...they don't have super macho sperm....lol). my family is full of twins...both sides...and i'm now pregnant with twins. there are absolutely no sets on the dh's side. the whole skipping a generation thing isn't necessarily true. my dad and his second wife had twin boys....and now like my dad i'm having twin boys.
