Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction

Hello!

I posted the below question a while a go and a lovely lady replied to me but I've lost her email address! If she, or anyone else has been through this - please do get in touch as I feel very alone.

Hi

I had my gallbladder taken out in 1996 when I was 16 because I had biliary dyskinesia. This seemed to cause my symptoms of nausea, vomitting and pain in the URQ. Then in 2005/6 the pain returned followed by the nausea and vomitting i thought I had gotten rid of. I have had about 5 ERCP's, 2 sphincterotimies and 2 stents. Each time, I have been admitted with mild pancreatitis and each time, my Consultant was unable to get into the bile duct because its too constricted. This is AFTER a sphincterotomy. I am waiting to have a HIDA scan and hope that won't be too soon but I was wondering if there was anyone out there who had a similar thing that I could chat to about it. I don't work as I'm in too much pain al the time - is there anyone else out there in a similar situation? Or am I being wuss?! Also, has anyone found any successful pain relief at all? I have tried Fentayl and that made me sick to my stomach. I'm trying Buprenorphine patches at the moment but even as I write this, the pain is realy bad. The only thing that ever seems to work is pethidine. And my GP is reluctant for me to stay on this as my tolerence is going up.

I Really would appreciate talking to anyone in a similar boat.

Thanks,
Lisa X
