L1 herniated disc that is causing leg and hip pain

The Pain is only in my left leg but it is to the point that my leg doesnt work right when i walk and it is interfering with my work the doctor has schuled me for surgury and i was wondering if there was anything else i  could do to make  this better without surgury??

Only 2% back pain patients have to go to surgery.
Make sure that your doctor have right decision anyway.
Take care!
Alternative therapies only work for some kind of back pain.
