Thyroid cancer and a questionable mammogram.

by cathrn, Jun 03, 2008 02:55PM
I had a total thyroidectomy due to the size of my thyroid on March 5, 2008.  The pathology following surgery incidentally diagnosed a 3mm papillary microcarcinoma.  I have not had Iodine 131 treatment, only Synthroid.

My concern at this point is the following:  1.) Over Thanksgiving 2007 I had a back injury and a CT scan showed an adenoma on my right adrenal gland.  A subsequent MRI diagnosed incidentaloma.  A 24-hour urine test for pheochromocytoma, etc were incomplete but the results received were not alarming.  I have had no further testing for the adrenal.  2.)  I just had my first screening mammogram and have a spot that needs to be tested further.

Should I get more aggressive in my medical care?  Should I be concerned?  I live in an area where the level of medical care is getting better but it is NOT where it should be.  An benign question about my thyroid treatment to my mother's physician 200 miles away revealed that my care would have been much different if I lived in a big city.  I am concerned that too many things are showing up to be coincidence.  Do you have any suggestions?
