Scheduling my LEEP this week...questions

by rubyolivia, Jun 03, 2008 09:27PM
Hi! I had my colpo 2 weeks ago and got the results back. There were a few areas that had severe dysplasia. I am to go for my consult on Thursday and will schedule the LEEP at that point. My question is this: What do the biopsies from the colpo determine? Can/Do they tell whether you have cervical cancer from those biopsies alone? Or is that done after the LEEP? I guess (hoping so much for good news) that I assumed the biopsies at the colpo would give me an answer regarding whether or not it is cancerous. But once I got to thinking and reading, I'm wondering if the LEEP is being done, not only to remove the bad cells, but to test for cancer.

In all my worry, I'm in a blur. Hopefully this all makes sense and I don't sound like too much of a dingbat! lol

Thank You!

biopsies tell u what type of dysplasia is on the cervix....mine was provided to me on a lab slip from the lab that biopsied the tissue sample.it is not cervical cancer but left untreated/removed could develop in2 such.the bad cells r called precancerous.LEEP removes the bad cells.
