HSG

by sjm72, Jun 05, 2008 06:16PM
I had the HSG test today and one tube was completely blocked.  The other was blocked too but not completely.  I am hoping this helps but was wondering if the blocked tube prevents ovulation(temp rise and opk results)  I want to be excited but am cautiously optimistic.  Thank You in advance!!!!

blocked tubes do not prevent ovulation, but does hinder the follicle to unite with sperms and also hinders in egg travelling towards the uterus...but i have heard of people getting lucky with one tube and many other conditions (eg bkny)...so stay positive...

Thank You.  I asked because my LH seems to be higher for longer as per +opk's.  I was hoping the egg was just stuck because of the blockages.

It doesn't prevent ovulation but it does prevent the rest of the process.  Sometimes the HSG can open things up and help you conceive naturally after the procedure.  good luck!

Thank You!   Do you think that I could have a prolonged LH surge related to the tubes being blocked and my body trying to release it or are the two unrelated?

No problem!  That is probably not the case.  The LH surge is what is needed for the egg to be released from the follicle out of the ovary, but would not change if the egg couldn't go down the tube.  There are lots of other reasons -- has your doctor discussed it with you?

She told me to stop testing(with OPK) when I get a positive.  I haven't ovulated my  last two cycles but had positive OPK when starting to spot before my period started day 22.   I know I've ovulated in the past as per temping and charting.  I've been on  natural progesterone the last four months. Could that be effecting ovulation too.  As you can tell I'm very confused.  Thanks Again!!
