It's prescribed mainly for blood pressure but also for opiate WD symptoms.  It comes in a 7 day patch which is what I had in the first place or pill which is what I have now.  It worked great for me.  You can get it from a regular doc and It does not require a special cert like suboxone.

And none of my Docs. now about my problem yet, i wouldnt be able to just call and ask for it unless i explained to them what i am going through, right?

does it help with the cravings also?

by fishmeal, Jun 13, 2007 12:00AM
I believe it helps with both because of the wd/s diminishing.

It would not help with the depression.. it may help with cravings. However due to the lowered blood pressure most people are tired.. being tired does not help with depression so much..

I was depressed because I couldn't sleep.  Tired made me very happy.

you need to be very careful though, Clonidine is actually an addictive medication too.  Use it sparingly.  Visterol also works fairly well as well as Valium.  Again, all are also addictive in nature.  But, they do relieve SOME withdrawal symptoms or dulls them a bit.

by FLaddict, Jun 13, 2007 12:00AM
clonidine is not addictive... you may be thinking of Klonipin.. which is a benzo like xanax and valium..  clonidine is just a med that lowers blood pressure.. they have been using them in treatment centers for decades.
