No one can diagnose me!

by Mysfyt, Jun 06, 2008 04:25PM
I am 34. I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Endometriosis by laparascopy in 2003.  Before that diagnosis, I was told by an E.R. doctor that my CT Scan showed MANY ovarian cysts on right side.  The lap proved I had Endo on my right ovary.  Doc said chances of that ovary producing a child were slim.

I gave natural birth to a child 18 months ago.  (Got pregnant on first try.)  After having my son, I no longer experienced ANY endo symptoms or pelvic pain at all!!!  Periods were normal for the first time in my life...up until 2 months ago.

My March period was 7 days late and very light.  18 days later I became pregnant (on first try again.)  We didn't expect this, as I felt that I had ovulated 1 week before.

1 week after I became pregnant, I developed SEVERE pelvic pain - very very low in pubic area - especially excruciating during orgasm. I had associated it that day with implantation crmaping, but it never went away. I also developed a fever of 99-101 for the first 3 weeks of pregnancy, but had read that was normal. I also completely "dried up" and have not been producing any vaginal mucus at all.

At 6 weeks (4 weeks after conception,) I told my doctor about the extreme chronic pain.  After a trans-vag sonogram, my OB said all was OK with me and the pregnancy.

1 week later I started to miscarry and was told it was a "blighted ovum."  They told me they saw it in the orig. sonogram but didn't want to alarm me until they were sure.  Next day (at 7 weeks pregnant,) they rushed me in for suction D&C because sac was not dispelling on its own.  Low pelvic pain persisted.  Doctor called to say they didn't find ANY baby tissue in the gestational sac and were worried about ectopic pregnancy being missed.  Ultrasound showed no baby anywhere and HCG levels dropped to 32.

3 days ago (1 week after D&C,) I was admitted to hospital running 101 fever and getting yellow discharge.  WBC count was 11,800.  They did IV antibiotics to ward off PID.  Preg. test completely negative.

I am home now and pain is MUCH worse.  It feels worse when I have a full bladder or when I get aroused.  It is a constant nagging pain that also gets sharp at times and shoots so badly into groin that I can't walk.

Doctor suspected maybe I had a cyst that ruptured on corpus luteum and caused miscarriage.  I thought blighted ovum was not caused by anything but choromosome problems (from bad egg or sperm - though I'm convinced it was bad egg due to all of this pain.)

Trans-vag ultrasound at hsopital showed no cysts, no leftover tissue from pregnancy, and NOTHING ABNORMAL at all.  A urologist also ruled out stones in ureter or kidneys via CT Scan.  GYN told me he can't explain the pain and wants to do a laparascopy.  I want to rule out other things before going under the kinfe again!

I feel very strongly that there is a tumor or something in my groin area - if I touch the area where the pain is, I almost pass out - as it is that bad.  I am still all "dried up" and feel like something is stuck inside me.  I still have a fever (though the hospital couldn't detect it...only my 2 ear thermometers catch it.)  I am in continual pain.  The pain is so low it feels like it's right above my vagina.  Almost feels like something is stuck on my cervix but docs have all said (after 5 pelvic exams in past 2 weeks,) that nothing is there.

Is it possible to have pain that low but have ovarian problems?  Is it possible to have something growing "outside" of my cervix that can't be seen upon exam or ultrasound?  Does PCOS cause fevers?  Also - could PCOS be the reason my egg was bad and didn't properly form into my baby?

Any ideas or suggestions? The pain is about a 9 out of 10 and it never goes away!  I really don't feel anything near what I felt with my endo.  I don't think it's related but I'm out of ideas.  THANK YOU.

Not full of answers for you, but I would go for the laparoscopy.  It's a pretty low risk procedure.  The only thing less invasive they could do is another D&C to make sure they didn't miss anything.  Probably would show much more than the transvaginal ultrasound though.

It does kind of sound like ectopic pregnancy.  If there wasn't a good source of blood supply where the pregnancy implanted then it may be that not enough cell division was able to occur so that there's not much to see by ultrasound.  This would cause infection and the antibiotics may have just fixed the symptoms but not the cause.  If you get symptoms of infection again, it's definitely a good reason to go through with the laparoscopy.

Oh, and the relief from pcos symptoms after pregnancy is common.  Sometimes pregnancy is even reported to kind of fix pcos.  Like rebooting the hormonal system.  I hope that this has happened for you and that this new development is just an acute complication that can be treated easily.

Anyway, please let me know what you find. You see, i have had severe pain in that same area for a few months now... but with other symptoms including bleeding on my period for 12 weeks now.  It would be a great help if you could offer me a piece to my own puzzle.

Best of luck to you.
