Pain an awful lot lately

by Jackie68, Jun 07, 2008 02:22AM
I just wanted to see if anyone else had my symptoms.  I have had several EGD's and everytime he goes down he sees  like little ulcers all over my small and large intestines.  The last one a year ago march he said things looked better, well April 30th my 40th birthday things have gone downhill since then.  I have had several bouts of severe pain, now they are starting to feel like they are going to my back.  All this pain is from my left side under my ribs to my right side around my liver area, and down to my belly button, but no lower.  Sometimes when I lay down I can hear the gurggling in my stomach then the next few days I have bouts of terrible what I call earth moving bowel movements, full of mucous and stool my stool is somewhat yellow.  I recently had lab work done and my bili level is .1 that seems kinda low to me.  But they don't seem worried.  But everytime I go to the ER they say things like your constipated or you have gastritis.  Now I feel silly because gastritis is pretty simple.  when they say I am constipated, I am not I have been having bowel movements every day sometimes several times a day, usually at least twice.  When I looked up Crohns disease I have almost all the symptoms.  All but the fistula type stuff.  Do you think its possible I could have this and what tests need ran to make sure what it is.  I feel stupid always going to the ER and really tired of all this pain though.  At least the pain meds help me sleep so I can get much needed rest. I really don't want to be on anything but the rentidine is for my gerd symptoms and if I don't have those I have heartburn from you know where.  So any suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

Crohn's disease shares a lot of symptoms with a number of other diseases. When I was being diagnosed I was tested for a multitude of illnesses. Self diagnosis usually isn't the best way to go - looking online I could probably find several different diseases that explain my symptoms. That being said I was misdiagnosed for almost three years as having amoebic dysentery and was treated incorrectly (with little success) for that time period.

Your best bet is to be aggressive and get a second opinion - just go in to that second consultation with an open mind. it may or may not be Crohn's but if you can be treated in any way you will find yourself living a more comfortable life. Good luck with getting to the bottom of this issue!
