Just curious...prozac & Omega 3 fish oil?

by Autumnx1003, Jun 09, 2008 08:53PM
Hello all...

As you can see from my first ever journal entry, I FINALLY started medication this week.  Kind of scary, I admit, but I think it is worth a shot at this point.  Anywho...
I have a curiosity question...I am also taking Omega 3 fish oil, as well as a B vitamin supplement. Has anyone heard if these are OK with Prozac (fluoxetine)?  I have looked for information, and havent found anything yet.  Let me know if you know...thanks :)

I would google that. I know that some supplements are ok to take, but need to be spaced out in order to prevent absorption issues.

I too, take b complex and fish oil, vit c, spirulina, adrenal support, magnesium, calcium, zinc, the list goes on and on...

Good luck.

When I took Prozac, I took B vitamins at the suggestion of my shrink.  Back then Omega 3 wasn't really used.

Maybe the best thing is to ask your dr or pharmacist.

My psychiatrist recommends folic acid - the daily minimum requirement. I take a Woman's formula that has folic acid and B;s; also I take Omege 3 Fish oil supplement. When you chose a fish oil supplement, be sure to only take pharmaceutical grade - free of mercury and other contaminants....that's very important.

I researched it throughly - you can get some good info. on the Environmental Defense Fund's site - they thoroughly researched all of the commercially available ones - you can see this run-down there.

Good luck...
