Breast tenderness after period..is this a cyst?

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am a 40 yr old woman who has regular cycles, every 28-31 days. I get the usual breast tenderness about 1-2 wks prior. However, this month after day 5 of my menstrual cycle, the breast tenderness didnt go away, and seems to be worse. Could this be caused by a cyst on my ovary? I have no other symptoms, other than my period is usually gone by the end of day 4 but this time lasted all the way through day 5. Thanks for any input.
