Not sure what to believe

by lov4life, Jun 10, 2008 01:40AM
My question is about recurring HPV infection. It was stated in a forum that Dr. Handsfield answered back in 2004 about a lady that had a Leep (as I did-3 years ago) procedure done. After 5 years she had another infection, mild dysplasia. It was stated that it could be her old infection recurring. I was led to believe that by what is told to others on this forum "not to worry, it will "clear" from your body( in so many month) and you cant get it again. Is this just new research that is causing you to change your thoughts?

After five years and having another HPV infection...one has to wonder if she was re-posed to a new strain of HPV by another partner. There are those who post to the docs and do not tell the whole truth......some have admitted after constant back and forth that there was another partner or partners. It used to be that the docs gave u one response and that was it!u were cut off at the knees..right mayflowers?i think many complained about this for now they are commenting to additional comments and will stop after a time!

so, as far as the High risk goes for men.....do they "clear" it faster since they have no place for it to hide out and linger???
As for the chance that "HPV can recur" is that while it's "clearing" your system??

no the men with high risk HPV would have it the same amount of time as we would...there seems to be more places in their bodies for it to hide since they don't have a cervix which is where it shows up with us....the hypothetical theory from the research is that the HPV clears ur system in a certain time frame.....and the other theory that a stored strain may re-occur in the event of a compromised immune system..the docs say possible unknown at this time but possible...again confusing to many....but i understand it!
