How worried should I be

by optimistic30, Jun 10, 2008 02:59PM
I had an ultra sound done at the end of May the said my baby weighed 5lbs an was in the 75% range.  I went to my appt today and they want another ultrasound done because I have not gained any weight in the past 3 weeks.  My visit last week I was told I was 90% effaced could that have any effect on my weight?  Is this something that could harm the baby? Please let me know.

Thanks.

how many weeks are you?  i haven't gained any weight in the last 3 weeks either and actually last week they said i lost 1 pound!  but i'm almost 39wks and its normal not to gain weight at the end...  but your baby should still be getting fatter!

I am 38 weeks today.

if you're 38wks then your at the point when they say that you really don't gain much weight from here on out...  as for the last 3 weeks not gaining any, i guess i'm not sure really!  its good that they want to look at the baby just in case but even though you are not gaining weight does not mean that the baby isn't.  for the past month and a half i have been measuring 2 weeks behind but the baby is perfectly fine and right on track.

if you want you could try and post this question the pregnancy 21-34 forum...  you will probably get more answers over there b/c this forum kinda runs a little slow since most of us post in the other one more!

good luck and please post an update for us after your u/s...  did they say when they wanted to do it since you don't have much time left?

I know that my doctor said what kennedy mentioned that it is normal to not gain any weight in the last few weeks. I have only gained 1 lb in the last few weeks, and they said that was the baby who put the weight on.
I agree that you can post about this in the 21-34 forum and they can give you more insight on what this may be.

Best of Luck

Don't feel bad, i lost 10lbs in a week, and my doctor didn't seem to worried about it.  At this stage in our pregnancies its normal not to gain much, as long as the baby is growing all should be fine.
