Genetics and Autoimmune Disorders

Is there a relationship between autoimmune disorders and genetics. My family seems to have a lot of autoimmune problems that can be traced back to grandparents cousins and even second cousins.

i have a friend who has alopecia and it was geentic, it stemmed from her mothers vitaligo.  so yes i believe they are genetic because the doctor told my friend if she has a baby girl then the baby will have alopecia and not have hair also,
