SVT reverting

by bigkev414, Jun 11, 2008 07:49AM
I have experienced SVT's spasmodically for years which come on without warning and last from a few minutes to 2 hours or so. My heartrate goes to between 170 and 230 bpm, and I try coughinh, blowing my nose, suddenly bending down, splashing my face with cold water, gulping a cold fizzy drink if I have on and sometimes it reverts when I burp. Otherwise I take some Tenormin and valium which I carry with me and wait for it to settle. I get very breathless and dizzy, and upset when it happens. Does anybody have any ideas or things that they do to revert the rythum that I don't already try?
Had one today for the first time in a few weeks and of course have freaked out again. Stupid *******aren't I. Doctors all say it won't kill me, but anybody who has them knows what happens to us emotionally when they come on. By the way, there is a definate connection between bending / twisting just after I have eaten and having an SVT.
Any advice will be treasured. Thanks, BigKev
