Soft Blood filled bump at base of penis

by HFan00, Jun 11, 2008 09:08AM
Dear Doctor,

About four months ago I noticed a bump about half the size of a tic tac at the base of my penis that was not there before. The surrounding skin is normal, just a raised bump that seems to be filled with blood, and the shape is regular oval. I have popped it a couple of times, and it bled alot as if a blood vessel was feeding into it. It is now slightly bigger than before and not as uniform as before (I suspect from the popping and healing of the bump). It looks odd on my genitals but other than that it gives me no discomfort.

So, my question is, Is this common in men? (I'm 26 years old) And will it develope into a larger bump as time progresses? And finally will it go away on its own?

Thank You

-Henry

This sounds like a superficial blood vessel.  Yes, such things are common on the penis and don't mean anything..  Please don't keep poking at it, since all that will do will make you bleed.  Show it to a doctor next time you go.

Best.

Will it go away on its own or will it stay? Thanks for your attention.
