almost 3 month-old constantly ***** fists and is salivating a lot

DS is turning 3 months in a couple of days.  He recently started to suck his fists a lot and is salivating.  I don't remember DD doing that this early.  What can it be?  Is he hungry all the time??

Teething early?  Sounds like it.  Maybe he's just going to get teeth early?  My daughter did this but it was around 4-5 months.

Good luck.. Let the fun begin!

At around this age their saliva production increases and it becomes more than they can swallow.  Also, at around 2 months, babies start chewing their hands, it's all part of their development.  It doesn't necessarily mean that they are teething.  It no longer becomes a sign of hunger but something they do.  Which, often becomes confusing because I remember not knowing if my ds was hungry or not...lol.  You learn to pick up on it though.  Although, my son did teeth early...he got his first 2 teeth at 4 months.

My DS started chewing hands at 2 months and drooling. He just got in his first two teeth at 5 1/2 months.  LOL it only gets worse from here on out.  Everyday my son has drool covering the entire circumference of his body and goes through many bibs!

Jake still chews on his hands and drools most noticeably around teething time....he did it notoriously when getting his first teeth, which arrived at 4mos and 5 days.

To: everyone
DD got her first 2 teeth at 6 1/2 months and then it was non stop.  She got a pair every month or couple of months.  It was hell, in other words.  Now she's getting her 2 year old molars and we didn't sleep at all last night b/c she was up every hour or so.  I don't remember DD chewing her fists so much.  DS does it all the time and it throws me off, is he hungry, is he not?  Sometimes he does it right after he's eaten so he can't be hungry.  The funniest thing is that he had the two bumps on his lower gum right from birth so DH and I were kidding that he'll get his first teeth in 2 months or something like that.  Those two bumps have gotten somewhat whiter so he might be teething.  I guess we'll know soon enough.  I'll keep you posted.

You know my DD never did this either....never chewed her hands/fists......hardly even drooled.  She took her teeth like a trooper....2-3 at a time...and had a full mouth by 10 mos.....

Now DS....he throws fits....constantly shoving his fists in his mouth, screaming, drooling....

I agree they are the worst.  I didn't tell you...my son tried to slap me yesterday.  He got cranky and started swinging at me.  I did a time out for a 6 1/2 month old...firmly said no and he started to cry and reached his arms out for a hug...boys are terrible.
