Spasming tube?

by Tracy21110, Jun 11, 2008 05:37PM
Hi,

When I was a baby I had what my parents and I now think was Pyloric Stenosis. I was put into hospital for it and observed but I seemed to come right so it was never treated and I didn't have any scans, etc at the time. About four years ago (16-17 years old) I started having pain in my lower right abdomen which was pretty constant and sometimes had me doubled over in pain. After months of scans and hospital visits I was told that the "tube exiting the stomach" was spasming and causing delays in my stomach emptying (I had also lost a considerable amount of weight in a short time) so I was staying full for longer, etc. I was put on an anti-spasm medication which seemed to work and I have been taking this medication on and off as I needed it for the last four years.
This past weekend I was admitted to hospital with pain in my lower right abdomen again. Because the pain was so quick and acute I didn't think it could be the same condition (it has been under control for the last few years with only minor pain) but it appears it may have been (I am scheduled to take an ultrasound to eliminate other possibilities). I have been to see my GP and am taking the anti-spasm med again. So far no success but as it has only been 24 hours I'm waiting to see how it goes.
My questions are: is the pyloric stenosis possibly related to what I have now? Is there a name for what is happening so that I can do more research?
If this current problem is the spasming tube I am concerned about what is triggering the sudden onset?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
