Breast Lump in males..

by dt1314, Jun 11, 2008 10:49PM
My 17 year-old brother has something weird in his left breast. It feels like some kind harden circular lump directly under the  skin. Pretty big too and is freaking him out. I researched around and found out that some "young" boys who are going through puberty have some swelling or enlargement of the breast tissue under the nipple. called Gynecomastia, I believe which should disappear in a few months to a year.

Well he is 17 already and turning 18 this summer and I'm afraid that this is not Gynecomastia. He first found out about it in about a year and half, and had ask his doctor during an exam last year. The doctor took a feel and said not to worry about it. This year he dont need a physical exam so he didnt go the doctors.

But he's getting quite anxious about it. He's really embarassed about his body compared to other teens. He even tried working out in the gym for 2 months last summer 'cause of this (not much results except stiffer chest and arm muscles). As a result, he rather stay at home and less outside. My mom are worried about the lump too. Any ideas? Hopefully nothing serious.. :( Thanks in advance.

my husb. used to get a big lump right under the nipple when he drank too much caffinated drinks.  when he'd cut back on soda and coffee they would go away. but if he's really worried then he should go to another doctor.

Men can also develop breast cancer, so I would definitely have it checked out. As far as the caffeine intake posted by ki-chris: I have cystic breasts and caffeine does cause the cysts to become larger and more prominent so if your soon drinks alot of coke then he could just have cystic breasts.
