Gone off his milk

by marcmummy, Jun 12, 2008 01:12AM
My son has been a fussy eater since he started solids. Meal times are a battle, and getting him to drink his daily milk is also another battle. He usually takes 170-180ml of formula milk 3-4 times a day. But lately, he has been rejecting his milk, saying it is "smelly". I don't know if this is just an excuse he has picked up, but he would point blank refuse to drink it, saying he wants it hotter, or colder, etc etc, as well as it being "smelly". He is also going off his meals. He does not like sweets, chocs, ice cream, fruits.......what could the problem be???

Your son is over 2 years old. Is there a reason why he is still on infant formula milk?
He has reached the "Picky Eater" stage that some children reach at this age. You are not alone. Suggest giving him Pedisure instead of formula only 3 times a day. Engage him with preparation of food. Have him help you set the table or do something for the meal. Children love to be a part of making food. Mealtimes can be a battlefield when children do not have an interest to eating healthy or eat very little. It becomes the battle of the wits between the child and the parents. Relax at meals and let him eat what he wants. Slowly introduce new foods, and if he does not want it, do not make a fuss over it. Let it go and enjoy your meal. Try again in a few months.
