by Mommyof3boys1girl, Jun 12, 2008 01:39AM
I have 3 children and all by csection with the first 2 i used pads... but just last week i gave birth by c section for my third and i am takeing my kids to the water park for there birthday.. and i am still bleeding.. can i use a tampon to go with them??? i would  only be using it from 7pm to 11pm then go back to wearing pads.. ..

Is there any risk for doing that???

I understand if it was a vaginal birth but why isnt c section the same  that you cant wear a tampon?? let me know thanks

Noooo clue. I think it depends on if you dialate at all before your section. The reason they don't want you wearing a tampon is it can increase the risk of infection and TSS (toxic shock syndrome) because your cervix may be more open therefore making your uterus more suseptible to infection.

A friend had a c-section 11 weeks ago and was told literally (from a rather crass nurse) 'nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks' - take that for what it's worth!

oh, props to you for venturing to the water park that soon after a c-section!!!  i would be scared to do that!!!  this will be my 4th c-section and i've never asked that question before so idk, either...  sorry!  omg...  be careful at that water park...  i guess don't go in the wading pool... !!!

Yeah - everyone I know who had c-sections - nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks.  Even though you didn't  deliver through your vagina you are still experiencing the same after affects as some one who did deliver vaginally.  You could put yourself at risk for infection.
Shoud you really be going in the pool water with all of those chemicals and on rides that soon after a major surgery?

Yes nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks as you can make yourself prone for infection. They say the same after a miscarriage i was told no tampons (Even though i only ever use pads) and i that i shouldnt go back to tampons until my next cycle.
