My period is really weird

by shygrl, Jun 12, 2008 02:39PM
Well ever since i started my menstruation i has always been really weird.
when i was 12 i started my period then ever other month it would it las for  15 days.  But after i started having sexual intercourse (17 years old)  i would have my period every 3 months and it  will last for 1 month. And now that i' m 21 i don't even know when it's my period because since March 21 i been bleeding but really light and when i place a pad i don't bleed anymore and today again i don't know what to do. can anyone give me any advice. I have been going to a gynecologist but i notice that he's not helping at all because in 2006 he did a D&C. After that my period got worst and i would have super bad cramps which i didn't had before. thank you in advance...

Do find a new gynecologist and get checked immediately. There are many factors that can cause irregular periods--several of which can be quite serious. A good first step would be a check of your hormone levels. Dr. J

Find a new gyno, if you are on birth control pills you may need to have them adjusted. You should not be bleeding that long no matter how lite it is.

Well no i'm not taking any birth control pills. But my gynecologist gave some and i only use it no more than 2 month because i want to have kids and the doctor told me that if i keep on taking them i wouldn't be able to have kids yet. This gynecologist is the secound because the first one was same as this Dr. but i don't know if his doing a good job because whenever i go he only take me an ultrasound or sometimes he just tells me how   r u? and oh ok i'll see you next time. And i would like to change Dr. but i don't know who is better than this one. I live in Santa Ana California..

Thank you for all your help and advice.

Hi there. Please re-post this question in the Gynecology Expert Forum or ask your own doctor--not the assistant. Good luck! Dr. J

I know a girl from work that bleed constantly for over a year. They tried all the birth control pills, all the procedures for the uterus, they tried putting her body into a false pregnancy and put her through menopause. It was all hormones. She is now fine and healthy and totally able to have kids! You need to find a GYN that will take this condition seriously! Its not ok for you to keep going home and bleeding.
