Chest Pain

by pmensah, Jun 12, 2008 03:39PM
Hi, I'm 19 years old and I have been having persistant chest pain for about 3 1/2 years now.  I've had all the cardiac tests and they can never give me an answer.  When I took the stress test they said that my heart rate was abnormally high for my age but I was never able to schedule an appointment for the doctor to tell me my results.  I figured if it were bad they would have called me by now.  The last time I went to the hospital they said it was most likely musculoskeletal because other areas of my body hurt.  Like my back *rite behind where my heart should b*, my left arm, and my rib cage only on the left.  Normally when I have chest pain I dont have those pains and it may jus be my left arm if that even does happen.  It had never been like that before.  They did say I have palpatations but they haven't explained why.  A couple of times I went to the hospital after fainting, lightheadedness, blurred vision, and chest pain & they said it was from me having been sick the weeks before that the coughing probably jus weakend my chest muscles and caused me to faint.  But it didnt explain my other symptoms.  I'm just very confused.  A lot of times I have chest pain and palpitations when I'm not doing anything but it does seem to be worse when I get any type of cardiovascual activity.  So running and a lot of exercises are very painful for me.  I also have asthma but its very mild and I was told I dont even need to take my inhaler unless I need it.  Can musculoskeletal chest pain explain all my symptoms or should I get another opinion?  I was also recently diagnosed with acid reflux but the prilosec that I was on didnt work and I have been constipated for about 2 months now.  I really just dont know what my next step is because I have racked up a lot of medical bills so far.
