Stroke and Myelin Sheath

by ampky, Jun 12, 2008 08:19PM
Can a stroke (hemorrhagic from cavernous hemangioma burst) cause the myelin sheath to be inflammed or injured on the affected side?

Thanks for your time!

Hello Dear,
Inflammation of myelin sheath is cause by neurodegenerative autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, transverse myelitis, Alexander's disease, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, Guillain-Barré Syndrome and central pontine myelinosis.Usually haemorrhagic strokes do not cuse the inflammation of the mylein sheath.
