Celiac and weight loss

by beentrying2quit, Jun 12, 2008 08:51PM
One of my MAJOR Celiac symptoms is not being able to gain weight.  Part of this too is I hate my job but am stuck there until I find another job which increases my anxiety and I'm not able to sleep and so on.  Anyway...when this whole thing started I was at 205lbs and at my lowest I was at 183lbs.  Currently I'm at 190lbs and have to work extremely hard to stay there.

My question is this.....once you are on a totally gluten free diet does your weight come back?  My clothes dont fit me anymore and I'm tryinng not to spend any money on clothes since EVERYTHING I make now goes to the oil companies.  I know this is not the place for political comments but I could not resist.

My husband had a hard time with weight in the beginning, but once he went completely gluten-free it took a bit of time but his weight stabilized. That was a few years ago. Today, I'm constantly teasing him that if he nibbles on one more gluten-free cookie I'm going to end up with a 'tubby-hubby' and I'll divorce him and look for a newer model! So I think once you stabilize and remain gluten-free unless something else is going on, you should be just fine.
