prostatitis

by oregonboy, Jun 13, 2008 11:49AM
Dear Sir,
I was diagnosed with prostatitis about a month ago. They initialy screened me for clymidia and Gonna which came up negative. I was put on Doxy for 10 days. About half way through the doxy the skin on my genitals felt hot. There was some discomfort at the end of my urethra and a feeling of urgency and not being finished after urination. The warm sensation was gone in a day or two but the urethra issues have ebbed and flowed day to day. Being somewhat of a hypocondrac I looked inside the end of the urethra and found what seem to be a very small bulging vein (blue colored) on the lower right side of the opening. This has remained constant sometime more visable than others. This structure disappears upon any manipulation of the glanz.  The Doctors put me on Cipro for the next 21 days. Last night I felt a slight pain during ejaculation about a 2 on a scale of 10. Can you offer any insight that I might bring to my next appointment as to what this might be?

Hi

Discomfort during ejaculation and urination as well as urinary urgency may suggest an underlying urinary tract infection. Do you also strain during urination? Urethritis and cystitis have to be ruled out. Also, involvement of the prostate need to be ruled out here as you also experience some problems with ejaculation.

Were the able to perform a digital rectal examination to assess the prostate ? What tests were done?

Vannessa
They did preform both a first urine and DRE. No white cells until they ran the DRE then they found them. They also ran urine test for Gonna and Cly both of which came back negative. They also ran an HIV blood test which came back negative. At the end of the initial exam they gave me a painful shot and put me on Doxy for 14 days. After about four days my testes and under side of the penis became warm and the problems voiding became more apparent. My testicals felt heavy. These problems were made worse by sitting as it seemed to add pressure to urinate. The doxy made me feel sick and lost my appitite but it came back after the second day off of it. I was stressing so bad that I had bilateral cramps in my hamstings which is where I carry all of my stress and knots. After reading about HSV2 and leg cramps that made me stress more.

Straining - sometimes I have to strain but it seems like the stream is about half what it should be. This appears some of the times. Other times it seems normal. It is not red or discolored in any way.
I do have to go frequently and up until the past few days I had a feeling of not being finished (as it there was urine just inside waiting to void). This made the tip of the penis feel unusual (It made me consious of it).

After the inital round with the gp I went to my uro. They put me on Cipro for 21 days. I'm about 14 days through this. After being on cipro if I find myself thinking of the possibilites I can feel my leg begin to tighten. Not painful but tight especially if I'm not drinking water.
The strange urethral veins have be constant. They seem to change from being noticable to not so noticable. I guess I should ask for a HSV panel. Any other thoughts?
