Small bump on cervix

by nakia23, Jun 14, 2008 12:43AM
I am 32 years old, I have 4 children, 3 vaginal births and one c-section. Last night when examining my cervix I found a bump about the size of a pea. It is hard, doesnt move, very smooth and is slightly tender. I used to have extremely heavy periods then started having very light periods and now I havent had a period since January. Mine were always 28 day cycle no matter how many days I bled. Then they just stopped. Im not pregnant.

I have severe fibromyalgia and hypoglycemia. I have alot of pain during intercourse and my periods when I had them were very painful. Years ago my gyno thought I had endometriosis. I havent had a pap in years and teh ones I did have were abnormal but I was always told that they couldnt find a reason for it. I cant afford another doctor, my pain doc and medications are already giving us financial problems. What can cause these bumps. Im very scared. Im afraid if I go to the doc about this he will think Im crazy for even examining my cervix or because Im worried about a bump. I have already had to many docs think Im crazy for all the pain I have been in for the last 10 years. Some thought it was in my head, some thought I was just looking for drugs. I dont have much faith in doctors anymore. The only one I trust is just a pain specialist.
What can it be? Im really very worried.
Thanks for any information.

Hi,
It could be a cyst or a tumor. A nabothian cyst is a mucus-filled cyst on the surface of the uterine cervix. Each cyst appears as a small, white, pimple-like elevation. They can occur singly or in groups, and they are not a threat to health. The cysts are more common in women of reproductive age, especially those who have already had children.
This is a benign condition. No treatment is necessary. However, nabothian cysts do not spontaneously clear. They can be easily cured through electrocautery or cryotherapy. Both procedures can be done in the doctor's office.
