IRRITATION TO URETHRA

by vic624, Jun 14, 2008 09:20AM
Went for my physical about 6 weeks ago. Everything was ok. About 3 weeks ago began to get stinging  at urethra after urination . Urination itself is painless and has no stinging. Stinging begins a minute or two after completion and eventually goes away. Have no problems with frequent urination..do not get up at all at night to relieve myself. During physical rectal exam showed no enlarged prostate and psa is low.

I wonder if you are passing a stone. You do not have the classic symptoms but urethral discomfort that persists beyond urinating may be a symptom of this. I think that you should go to a urologist and get a urinalysis and a repeat exam. Things may have changed over the intervening three weeks.
Sometimes, however, we find nothing, and then we are stumped. Hopefully, this will resolve spontaneously.
