Just what is happening with my heart!!???

by hawaiianbraddah, Jun 14, 2008 06:52PM
Hi I'm a male who is 18 years old and I live on the Island of O'ahu HI. I have been noticing shortness of breath, heart pounding, mild confusion, muscle twitches, and at times a dull sharp pain in my heart. This last past week I've been concentrating alot on my heart. Just last night I could'nt sleep because I was concentrating on my heart beat, I noticed that I would fall asleep but just suddenly wake up beacuse I feel as if I can't breathe. I stayed up most of the night just trying to calm myself down and think of it as nothing. My upper left side of my back (by my heart) has been tight and i often ask my girlfriend to massage it. she says that it feels like I have a knoe there. At times my muscles just twitch & i also notice that i have like a head ache or pain in my head. At times I feel awsome but it seems like I have these frequent episode of increased heart beat, mild sweating,  panicing, and shortness of breath during the night time. My family does not have a history of heart problems though. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!!!! thank you and god bless

hello,

your symptoms indicate that it might be anything from just stress to a major complication.  Your age tell me that it could just be stress, but i would still check it out with your GP.  Also, family history just indicates a higher risk of having that particular diseases but that does not mean you cannot have it.

I am not a doctor, hopefully that helps.
