palitive care question

by pauline727, Jun 15, 2008 10:11PM
My mother developed small cell lung cancer in 2000; after radiation and chemotherapy, she had a 7 year period of time "cancer free".  Last year she was treated by chemotherapy for non small cell cancer, and the 3 bouts of chemotherapy, she had extreamly low blood presure, very poor circulation (resulting in necrotic tissue in the toes), and could not eat.  The doctor requested hospice be brought in.

This was 11 months ago.  She has made quite recover, and is walking again.    Unfortunatly, she is suffering from chronic diareha, and now has a tumor growing under her arm.  She is declining any more treatments.  (she turns 80 next month)

Has anyone been through this?
