Post Chemo Menopause and Uterina Bleeding

by dcosprings, Jun 16, 2008 10:03AM
This question may be better suitet to an Uterian issue but this wast the only forum I could get to open .....

My wife is 6 years ER/PR + stage 3 breast cancer. Bilateral Masectomies and has been on Tamoxafin since the end of her Chemo.

She has been in Chemo Induced Menopause since the end of her treatment, has hypothyroid, with no other significant health issues.

Approx three weeks ago she began a spontanios uterina bleed that was not indicative of endometrial shedding. The volume of flow would soak a Tampon and Pad in under two hours.

She has seen her Gyn and he attempted an in office Biopsy with unremarkable results due to the volume of blood flow and a limited tissue sample.

She is now after three weeks scheduled for a D&C and Hysteroscopy......

Is this delay normal. It seems to me that the lack of any menstural bleeding in the last 5 years accompinied by a large spontanious bleed is indicative of some pretty horrible possibilities....

Since your wife has to wait for three weeks, can you get a second opinion from another gynecologist/surgeon?  Those of us on this forum had laparoscopies to help determine what was going on inside of us.

To: Suzie,
Thanks for the feedback,

There just seems to be no sense of urgency regarding this issue. My wife is not pressing due to her fear that the Cancer is back,,,, I understand that but not knowing doesnt seemto be the solution....

Researching this issue would confirm that the treatment plan makes sense. Aparently the use of Trans Vaginal Sonography is inconclusive due to the Tamoxafin ....

Laproscopy doesnt seem to be indicated here.... In the event there is a need for an Abdominal Explortion the do a full exam and wash to see if there is any extra uterian metasis....

The thing that bothers me is the lack of expediency with regard to testing and timing...

Just really scary....
