PVC's second opinion

Hello,

I need advice!  I'm a 27 year old woman who suddenly developed PVC's about four months ago.  I am healthy otherwise (though I do have a very irregular menstrual cycle.)  I had a holter monitor that showed 1060 PVC's in a day, but otherwise everything was normal.  I also had a normal Echo, stress test, and electrolyte and blood tests.  Though I probably don't have 1000 PVC's every day, I do have at least 500.  I have not had a break from them at all in the past 4 months!

My question is, should I get a second opinion?  I saw a cardiologist but not an electrophysiologist.  That doctor kind of brushed me off because I'm young and female.  Now I'm worried that he might have missed something, or that I need more tests.  The problem is I don't know how to find a doctor who will take me seriously.  I live in N.C

Thanks for any advice!

Hi, Meg.  I think you would benefit from seeing an EP,too.  I will send you a private message with the name of my EP- he is in Charlotte, NC ( I live in Boiling Springs, NC). :)

Hi MegMc,

I'm in Raleigh and also have the name of a good EP.  Let me know if you would be interested in the name of someone in the Raleigh area.  You can also check the Heart Rhythm Society's website for physicians who specialize in EP.

A normal echo and stress test is great news!!  HOORAY!!  If your're worried about the PVCs, no harm in getting a second opinion.  Don't be surprised if you get the same (nonchalant) response.  They really are considered benign in someone with a normal heart.  Lots of us around here know how frustrating and concerning they can be so please feel free to stick around.  We'll do our best to help you deal with the extra beats so you can help the next person : )

Take care!

acjviolin,  Where is Boiling Springs?  I'm fairly new (few years) to NC and am still learning my way around the state.  Hope you're doing well!

Hi, Connie!  I'm doing well, thanks!  Boiling Springs is located in Cleveland County, which is two counties west of Charlotte.  We're 45 miles west of Charlotte, on the NC/SC line.  If you've ever heard of Gardner-Webb University, well, that's us!  It's a wonderful little town, as the university has enriched the area so much.  I've lived in Cleveland County all my life (yawn).

Small world!!  I lived in Cleveland (Ohio) for 47 years!!  My son has a place in Charlotte (uptown) and he works for a company in Kings Mountain!!!  He just accepted a new position and moved to Florida to work from home, but still has his condo in NC.  I love that part of NC!!!

Are you near Rock Hill?  We used to stop there on our way to the beaches when we were traveling from Ohio......Carrowinds nearby?

Sounds like a great place to live ; )

What fun!  MegMc:  where do they live?  I grew up in the town next door, Shelby.  I wonder if I know your parents?

Momto3:  I'm about an hour northwest of Rock Hill.  Love Carowinds (on cooler days!).  It really IS a small world.  Kings Mountain is a lovely town, too.  Charlotte is our "big city" around here- it's really, really grown in the last 20 years into a serious world-class city.

Take care, ladies!
