Possible HPV exposure

by encounter, Jun 16, 2008 08:53PM
i had protected sex two times with two different CSWs. I checked for STD's in a month and the test came negative. I also checked for HIV exposure after 3 months and the results were negative. My question is could I have got HPV even if i was protected.

It has been 10 months now and to the best of my knowledge i have not had any symptoms. i just got married and i was wondering if i can start having unprotected sex. Will she get affected ? I heard most HPV clear in 6 months

Yes.  But the risks are low, especially with protection.  I was in the unlucky minority who caught HPV from a protected single exposure, but most people get it primarily from multiple exposures and unprotected sex.  But I was also very, very unhealthy at the time and more susceptible to any sort of infection.  To my knowledge I haven't come across anyone else on this board who caught HPV from protected sex (but my memory is bad).  If you haven't had symptoms at this point, I wouldn't worry.

Unprotected sex is a choice between you and your partner, that's up to you and her to decide.  I wouldn't worry about HPV infection being an issue though.

u'll need to be concerned about HPV if u continue to have sex outside ur marriage....increased risk of other std's as well!

these are the only two encounters i have had outside my marriage. i have no symptoms. Is it ok to assume i did not contract HPV and would not give it to my wife.

u need to go to archives under the Experts forum-std's and read up on HPV transmission.Ur biggest concern should be the HPV warts....it can take 3-18 mos. for these to show....even if one has them burned off the vrius still lives in the skin and u can transmit to others due to condom not covering thigh and buttock area....CSW could transmit this to u as well!
