Sciatica Trouble

by Z0nz, Jun 16, 2008 10:50PM
I was again at the hospital for out of controle pain with my sciatica last night. I am currently taking Oxycodone-Apap 5-325 MG TabMck, Medrol dose pack, and now Hydromorphone 2mg (Dilaudid) because the Percocet * (Oxycodone) does not work well by itself.
I have no insurance so I will be paying for a Doc Apt this week. I was wondering is anyone else can give me advise on the following. Mornings are hell for me i cant get out of bed till the pain meds kick in which limits my day from the start. I cant stand for more than 10 mins or i get weak and pain that makes me want to scream. the pain is in my lower back, butt, Right leg, and my foot is numb to the point that i cant feel much of it ( pressure but no pain ). Im 23 yr old male with no history of back problems. I was assulted last month on the 17th , Kicked hard in the lower back and thats what the doc's think has started this. Anyway to make a long story short I am wondering what would be my next step???? PainManagement Doc? or Let my GP takecare of it ( remeber i dont have insurance ). I want to enjoy the lifestyle i once had but walking to the bathroom, or even standing to brush my teeth hurts so bad Im almost in tears, and sometimes am.

I am sorry you were so violently attacked. How awful! I too have this type of injury and the pain is excruciating at times. You need to get a pain management Dr as he/she can offer more treatments than a general Dr can. I know these can be expensive, can you apply for state help such as medicaid or there are some Dr's who operate on a sliding pay scale. I don't know much about medicaid or goverment programs but I will do some research on it for you and let you know. I also am wondering if you could possibly sue your attacker for medical cost. I am glad you are receiving some help as far as pain medications, there are other treatments that will help you too. I will get back to you soon with any information I can get for you.
I wish you the best of luck and my thoughts are with you:)
