4 yr olds poo is like Peanut butter

by Tasha1976, Jun 17, 2008 02:53AM
I have a 4 year old boy, he has in the past been constipated needing enemas to help. His poo was so wide and long it was very hard to pass. We have used Parachoc, drinking more water etc. We have not needed to use the Parachoc for ages because his poo is now like peanut butter, very hard for him to wipe his bottom as it doesn't come off. So he does it in his pants. Its like his poo is no longer a solid mass which he can pass, more like peanut butter which is coming out all day. Hope someone can help with any ideas on this..

From the weight you put down, he is a little below normal for his age. Suggest you have him checked by his MD with blood work and tested for any allergies or intolerance to lactose (milk sugar). In the meantime increase his fiber content of his diet, fresh fruits, vegetables, high fiber breads, high fiber cereals (oatmeal, cheerios, wheaties, etc), high fiber crackers and fewer juices. Increase water consummation. Thank you for your question.
