Hopefully it only has to do with my thyroid as I do take a daily calcium dose.
I had hypothyroidism also having my thyroid removed, you may be suffering from hypocalcemia due to your parathyroid glands not working properly. Go to the hypoparathyroid web sight and check out the symptoms. Cramps and tingling ( like pins and needles) are signs of low calcium. This goes hand in hand with thyroid problems.

These symptoms may be a manifestation of your hypothyroidism and make sure that your thyroxine intake is adequate. Adequacy of treatment can be seen on measurement of the TSH levels. Other causes would include stress, or micronutrient deficiency (especially vitamin B). Rare causes would include beginning ALS or demyelinating conditions such as MS. I suggest you discuss these options with your doctors. For now, have adequate rest and avoid stress as much as possible.
