Getting Old

by redfishblue9, Jun 18, 2008 12:06AM
I've had the same off and on sympoms of insomnia and headaches since i was little.
I've experianced extreme insomnia since day one, my parents tell me
along with this, by about age 5, i was having headaches that would last for 2 or 3 hours, about 4 times a week.
this gradually grew worse until I hit age 11, where I had a headache every day for about 4 hours
this was seemingly solved by going to a chiropractor (really randomly recommended when my physitan was at wits end with me)
The cycle began again at age 13 and we tried the chiropracter to no avail and the symptoms began to get worse. I'm 15 now and i constantly suffer ffrom headaches. Theres only about 2 days each month when I don't suffer from a seemingly all-day headache. The headaches always occur on the forehead.

More alarming is in the past 2 years I've goten migranes, only 3, but they're apparently unlike anythign my doctor's ever heard of with normal migranes. Symtoms: come on fast out of nowhere (i only fel eabout 5 minutes in advance, (though before the second one, i'd felt iffy and on edge all day), horrible head pain like my head was exploding and tightness, near-complete loss of vision, difficulty in breathing, dizzy, cold sweat, and i eventually blacked out for about 8 minutes 2 of the 3 times. waking up i felt dizzy and disorianted but never nausious, and the pain of the headache was always dulled to a low throb only about 10 minutes after it began, but i'd feel weak for the rest of the day.

I've been to a nurologist, all checked out, no answer still, and the same for allergist. (i'm not allergic to anything) We've tried diet plans and looked into sleeping problems and dehydratioon but no one had an answer. Any ideas for how to help me out?(sorry for writing a novel people)

Hi,

Have you been able to identify a trigger for your headaches? Certain food items like caffeine, chocolates, processed meats act as a trigger for migraine.
What medications are you taking presently for your condition? I would suggest you to cut down on your daily stress, try to relax as much as you can. You can also try breathing exercises and yoga and see if it helps.
