Is it safe to be sexually active when on the Gardasil shot?

by Havokus, Jun 18, 2008 10:37AM
My girlfriend is on the Gardasil shot and her mother say that the Doctor said having sex between shots is dangerous. That each time you have sex, your chance to get Cervical cancer increases. Another friend of mine said that her doctor prescribed her birth control for sex when she started getting her shots. I can't find anything about this on the Gardasil website. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or any doctors that can tell me what's going on? I'm confused, and concerned for my girlfriend, and would like to find out if her mom's just trying to scare her out of having sex or what. My girlfriend is 17, a month from 18, by the way.

Can anyone help me out?

i've had two injections so far, though, after doing research i wish i hadn't because apparently it hasn't been thoroughly tested and can cause some major symptoms (almost similar to pregnancy, or so it feels like) i have been having sex with my boyfriend. i had sex after the first shot. my gyno had me fill out a sheet at my first injection that asked if it were possible that i was pregnant. i asked her about that, since i had been having sex and she said don't worry about it, if i wasn't pregnant at that time then it didn't matter. she didn't tell me to stop having sex, though at the time i was on Yaz! birth control. but as far as i know having sex is totally unrelated to the gardasil injection, and YET AGAIN as a side note for future possible injectees, PLEASE do your research!!! alot of these vaccines are for the pharmaceutical companies to make money.
